About Maria Simeone


Maria Simeone was born in Quito, Ecuador to a multi-cultural/multi- lingual family of artists and musicians. Her heritage fuels her passion for serving communities world-wide, especially communities of greatest need and orphaned children.

Maria Simeone has been an educator/musician for over 30 years. She has taught grades K-8 and special education. As an opera singer, she has performed as soloist in opera, musical theatre, and in recital. She has served as Director of Education (Opera Pacific) and Founding Director of the Opera Conservatory (Orange County School of the Arts). She is a Teaching Artist (Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Pacific Symphony) a Remo Team Member, International Guest Speaker, and Certified Trainer for Move to Learn (AU).

Maria holds a BA with honors in Research Psychology and is published in the field of Cognition (Pragmatics of International and Intercultural Communication). She has trained extensively in vocal technique and performance with many of opera’s leading voice teachers, coaches and conductors. She holds professional level certification in Orff Schulwerk and is trained in Brain- Compatible Dance/BrainDance, and Dalcroze music/movement integration. She has studied the therapeutic use of Tibetan Singing Bowls (Diane Mandle/Tibetan Bowl School) for healing and is a facilitator for HealthRhythms.

Maria presents workshops in brain-centered arts integration for numerous organizations in the US and abroad. She has written hundreds of arts integrative lessons for Pacific Symphony’s Class Act program, Opera Pacific, and for numerous international guest artists at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

She has authored stories based on classical composers - Ludwig and Lenny Go for a Walk (Beethoven), Aaron Paints a Picture (Copland), Sound in My Ear, What Do I Hear? (Saint-Saens) and The Gershwins Go to Harlem. She has performed her interactive musical stories, on behalf of Pacific Symphony, to thousands of school children throughout Orange County, California.
